Team Tiger Awards Ceremony

Last week saw the Team Tiger presentation ceremony, held at the auspicious venue of the Wellington pub in town.
It didnt go to plan.

Over the past several months i have been tramping around local shopping centres in the birmingham suburbs, searching charity shops (or Opportunity shops if youre an Ozzy) for suitable Tiger related prizes for members of the team.

Although it is 4 months since the great run, i thought it would be an opportune time to make the presentation since most people seem to return to Brum to see family and friends for chrimbo. I thought that i would be able to arrange at least one night where everyone could make it out at the same time. Alass, it was not to be, although all members of the team did commit to coming along, circumstances conspired that not all of them could make it in the end.

I did give out the prizes for the members who turned up, cuz i couldnt be arsed lugging them home and then holding onto them for another 6 months till we all happen to be in the same place at the same time.

So to the prizes.

1st place was awarded to Mr James Jeremiah Peebles

The Tin Tiger. I think its real brass, and it weighs a tonne. Bought from a charidee shop in Kings Heath (where all the best shops are) for a mighty £4.99, it really is deserving of 1st place prize. Once bought i looked for a similar one on ebay and they were going for upwards of twelve english pounds minus postage and packing.
James has yet to collect his prize so i am keeping it safe for him till his next trip back to brum from the big smoke.

2nd place prize was awarded to Stephen Cornelius Gant esquire.

Yes, it was the plastic action figure tiger with moveable head and tail. It cost about 50p i think. Bargain. It looks fierce, which is appropriate because ste put in such a fierce display of running up in Newcastle.

I came third, and i didnt think it appropriate to buy my own prize, but andy reckons he'll keep his eye open for one.

Fourth place prize was a mini cuddly tiger toy, given to Andy on the night. It sported a dashing black bow tie and looked pretty smart. Unfortunately i dont have a photo of it but will endeavour to get one off andy and post it at a later date.

Fifth place prize for Daniel Bakingfield.

The Camp Tiger, complete with pink bowtie. Daniel was unable to collect his prize but i am holding onto it, along with his dungeons and dragons CDs which ive had for a while now as well. If Dan would like them then all he has to do is leave his flat and come to the pub sometime.

Discussion was had as to weather prizes should be kept in perpetuity or be up for grabs with each team tiger event. It was agreed that prizes will act as mascots or talismans on team tiger trips; being displayed proudly in team tiger transport cars, accomodation and many photos to be taken of them on location.
